PURPOSE OF HEALTHY MEDICINE ACADEMY
There is a great need for a deep transformation in health care education today. This is being recognized and acted upon by people and organizations throughout the world. There already exist a variety of information-based courses online and/or in person to provide practitioners with high quality education for improving practice skills and outcomes. Healthy Medicine Academy (HMA) will include and expand beyond this current paradigm in a number of ways:
- HMA teachers will teach information and also provide a depth of insight into their thinking process with patients.
- HMA will provide education broadly, to practitioners, patients and their families, and the general public.
- HMA will develop multiple media avenues for patient, practitioner and general public education, with courses, talks, and blogs for question and answer.
Much of medicine today has become depersonalized, with formalized evaluations and treatment templates. The core purpose of Healthy Medicine Academy is to deepen and enrich the thinking process in practitioners and patients. Physicians need a more individualized and cognitive approach to each patient so that, in the process of evaluating data and perceiving hidden deeper patterns of illness, effective therapeutic programs are developed. Patients need to be informed and also to become aware of the subtle differences in the same illness from individual to individual, and then to be able to find a physician of like mind with whom to deeply personalize care.
Healthy Medicine Academy’s purpose is to co-educate practitioners and patients, and the general public seeking to prevent illness, in order to bring a deeper awareness into our understanding of prevention and healing. Our goal is that everyone in the community develop an enhanced capacity to exercise sound judgment in health-related decisions, and that in the practitioner-patient relationship a deepened sense of trust and reliability can be established.
